Indications

In type 2 diabetic patients, SITA is indicated to improve glycemic control: * As monotherapy: in patients insufficiently controlled by diet and exercise alone and for whom metformin is contraindicated or not is not tolerated. * In oral dual therapy, in combination with: - metformin, when the latter, used in monotherapy with diet and physical exercise, does not provide adequate control of glycaemia; - a sulfonylurea, when this, used as monotherapy, at the maximum tolerated dose, with diet and physical exercise, does not provide adequate control of glycaemia and when metformin is contraindicated or does not is not tolerated; - a peroxisome proliferator-activating receptor gamma (PPARgamma) agonist [thiazolidinedione], when appropriate and when used alone with diet and exercise does not provide adequate glycemic control. 3/ As oral triple therapy, in combination with - a sulfonylurea and metformin, when dual therapy with these two drugs with diet and physical exercise does not provide adequate glycemic control. - a PPAR gamma receptor agonist, and metformin, when the PPAR gamma receptor agonist is appropriate and dual therapy with these two drugs with diet and exercise does not provide adequate control of the blood sugar. SITA is also indicated in addition to insulin (with or without metformin) when a stable dose of insulin with diet and exercise does not provide adequate glycemic control.
